Dog Day: Chaser’s First Victoria Day Weekend

May 19, 2008

For those of you who celebrated (and enjoyed a day off work), hope you all had a great Victoria Day weekend!

Our little Chaser Doodle, unfortunately, did not enjoy the fireworks. . . . [NB: WE didn’t set off any of the offending missiles. . . this was the reaction to the noise outside].

[“Mum, all those loud cracks and popping noises are freaking me out. . . and what are all those flashing lights in the sky? I think I’ll just stay here under this table until it’s all over. . . “]

Happy belated Victoria Day!! Aww, poor Chaser, haha :0)

    I want fireworks!!

  3. Hi Ricki,

With one dog that is a pure stress head at heart we decided after the first New Years fireworks = party in our house. I figured I couldn’t afford to ignore it because he was taking off for the front door and could become a serious safety issue if the wrong set of circumstances presented.

Years down the track the biggest problem that we have is that when things start to go bang and flash in the night I start tripping over dogs

    Kind Regards
    Belinda

    aw, poor pup!

Poor pup! All the pups in our neighbourhood were rather traumatized around the beginning of July because they were forced to endure double fire works on the 1st and on the 4th! We were often a large posse of kids out trying to locate a terrified dog who had run off in fear…they do sound a lot like bombs, really.

    VeggieGirl,
Yes, she really did not enjoy the festivities one bit!

    Romina,
I like them, too, but only when other people light them! I think we’ll be foregoing them for the time being, with 2 skittish dogs!

    Belinda,
Yes, I think we’re pretty much in the same situation here with our 2 nervous pups!

    Celine,
Thanks for the sympathy–I will pass along a soothing pat on your behalf🙂

    shellyfish,
I feel bad for the kids, as well, having to deal with those frightened dogs! And I’d never thought of it, but YEAH, they really do sound like bombs! Poor dogs, with their extra-sensory eardrums!
